Labor Management

Kortman Electric has a full time Labor Management Department dedicated solely to developing and maintaining the finest workforce of skilled electricians. Through aggressive recruiting, an intense review process and training, the Labor Management Department is responsible for shaping the field team. Labor management works closely with Project Management to ensure adequate quantities of appropriately skilled craftsmen are available to meet the demands of today’s project schedules.

Kortman Electric ensures a qualified workforce by offering employees the following training opportunities:

  • Apprenticeship in a formal educational program after work hours to increase their electrical knowledge as they progress toward journeyman status
  • On the job training to monitor, supplement and reinforce skills of the entire workforce.
  • Seminars for Foremen and Lead Men to ensure on the job training is performed in a uniform manner
  • Additional educational opportunities for employees to grow in knowledge and keep up with the changing codes, technology and methods employed in electrical construction

Kortman Electric continues to ensure a professional work force is maintained on site by:

  • Monitoring the attitude and attendance of field personnel.
  • Evaluating new hires closely for the first year of employment.
  • Requiring a drug free, safety conscious workplace.
  • Providing uniformed Electricians equipped with the proper tools.
  • Maintaining a zero-tolerance policy towards harassment and / or discrimination.
  • Employing only individuals legally allowed to work in the United States.
